Cathi’s Favorite Finds: Window Treatments, Accent Pillows, Baskets, and Rugs

Every season I like to share real, accessible, and beautiful items that help elevate your home without breaking the bank. These are pieces I’d actually recommend in a client’s home and can be used whether you’re staging to sell or simply want your space to feel polished and purposeful.

Let’s dive into Edition #1, featuring window treatments, accent pillow covers, wicker storage baskets, and neutral rugs! Practical decor that looks intentional, feels cozy, and works beautifully with the warm, layered interiors my clients love.

Green curtains hanging on brightly lit window

Great window treatments are one of the simplest ways to transform a room, especially if you’re prepping to list or want to enhance natural light.

Beautiful curtains or shades can soften hard edges, control sunlight, and help tie a space together without heavy renovation. Neutral drapery adds depth and feels elevated yet livable, which is exactly the aesthetic buyers and design-forward homeowners respond to.

My favorite curtains are by Two Pages because they are customizable and affordable. Take a look at these beautiful, budget-friendly options that elevate every room.

Accent pillows on sofa in comfortable living room

One of the most cost-effective ways to refresh a living room or bedroom is with accent pillows and/or pillow covers. Neutral or textured ones add softness, visual interest, and can subtly layer in seasonal color without overwhelming your existing palette.

Choose tactile corduroy, neutral boho sets, or more tailored linen-like fabrics for use on sofas, chairs, and beds alike. They’re especially helpful when staging because they help the space feel both styled and livable, which is exactly what buyers want to feel.

Here are some great options for pillow covers because they bring soft sophistication into any room:

Wicker baskets on bench in foyer

One of my favorite staging and design tricks is to hide clutter beautifully. Wicker baskets are that perfect in-between piece: incredibly functional, yet warm and textural.

Use them to corral throws, toys, blankets, or magazines in living areas. They also look great under a console table or bench and help make open spaces feel intentional and organized… again, something that resonates with both homeowners and buyers alike.

Here are some of my favorites:

Neutral rug at foot of sofa in living room with natural light

A well-chosen neutral rug is one of the best foundation pieces you can add to a space. Rugs define zones, soften footsteps, and make seating areas feel anchored, which is especially important in open floor plans.

I lean toward natural tones and textures that work with wood floors and neutral décor, because they tie rooms together without competing for attention. Plus, when preparing a home for sale, neutral rugs help buyers more easily imagine their own style in the space.

✨ BONUS: Rugs can also help reduce echo in empty rooms—a win for photos and showings alike.

Two of my favorite neutral rugs:

When working with window treatments, pillows, baskets, and rugs:

  • Stick to a cohesive neutral palette. This makes your home feel more intentional and calm.

  • Mix textures, not patterns. Subtle texture adds depth without visual noise.

  • Balance scale. A rug that’s too small or curtains that are too short can make a space feel off, even if the pieces are beautiful on their own.

These are simple details, but they make a big impact.
